Escuela Pavones  |  Puntarenas, Costa Rica

The community of Pavones is located in Buenos Aires, in the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica.  Pavones is a rural farming community, surrounded by vast regions of pineapple plantations. The existing classroom building was constructed by the community without skilled labor, and is inadequate for the children it serves.  We have been asked to provide a new masterplan, including: classrooms, library, bathrooms, an eating area, and other public spaces.  The Ministry of Education plans for more children from surrounding communities to attend the new school once completed. The purpose of this project is not only to improve the educational infrastructure, but to provide an epicenter for the community for gatherings and other events.
